Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Wednesday that the state has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) worth nearly Rs 16 lakh crore during the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos. The agreements, spanning across various sectors, aim to bolster Maharashtra’s economic growth and align with its target of achieving a USD 1 trillion economy.

Fadnavis emphasised that for India to reach its ambition of a USD 5 trillion economy, Maharashtra must contribute by achieving the USD 1 trillion milestone by 2030. The recently signed MOUs are expected to play a crucial role in this journey by bringing in significant investments and creating employment opportunities across the state.

Investor Confidence and Policy Continuity

Highlighting the confidence of investors, Fadnavis attributed the record level of investment commitments to policy continuity at both the central and state levels. He further stressed that trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has played a key role in attracting global investors to Maharashtra.

The Chief Minister assured that the state government would closely monitor the progress of these MOUs to ensure their successful implementation and conversion into actual investments. This approach aims to maximise the economic benefits for the state and its citizens.

Addressing a press conference alongside other Indian leaders, Fadnavis underscored the importance of all states growing together for India’s overall development. Telangana Minister D Sridhar Babu expressed confidence that his state too would reach the USD 1 trillion mark. Meanwhile, Kerala Minister P Rajeev shared that Kerala, participating in Davos for the first time, is set to host the ‘Invest Kerala’ summit next month to attract global investors.

United Effort from Indian States

Tamil Nadu Minister T R B Rajaa highlighted India’s position as the world’s knowledge powerhouse and suggested that events like the WEF could be hosted in Indian cities in the future. Notably, this year marked a significant milestone as leaders from the central government and various states came together under two Indian pavilions at Davos. Rajaa proposed that future editions should feature a single unified pavilion representing the entire country.

India’s Strong Presence at Davos

Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu lauded the collective presence of experienced leaders and young talent from India at the WEF. He credited Prime Minister Modi for ensuring a balanced representation of leadership at the global event.

Maharashtra’s massive investment drive and India’s united approach at Davos signify a strong commitment to economic growth and global collaboration.
