The India Meteorological Department has warned that a new Western Disturbance is likely to impact the western Himalayan region from December 7 and the adjoining plains of Northwest India from December 8, 2024. This weather condition will lead to moderate downpours and snowfall in the Himalayan Region from December 7 to December 9 while northwest plains may experience it on December 8. Light to moderate showers may take place over Uttara Kannada districts, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada, Bidar, Yadgir, Shivamogga, Kodagu, Kolar, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga and Tumkur districts.
The IMD also notified that in terms of temperatures, no notable changes are anticipated over Northwest, Central, and East India along with Maharashtra for the next two days. However, a gradual drop of 2-4 degrees Celsius is expected in the next couple of days. The minimum temperatures for Gujarat are likely to surge by 2-3 degrees Celsius for the next two days. For the rest of India, slight variations in temperatures are forecast for the next four to 5 days.
Bengaluru Weather Update
As per the Met Department, Bengaluru and its adjoining areas are expected to have a partly cloudy sky accompanied by light spells. The maximum temperature is likely to be near 25 degrees Celsius and the minimum will be at 20 degrees Celsius.
IMD Weather Forecast for Kashmir
Kashmir is expected to have dry weather conditions across most of its regions from December 4 to 7. However, isolated areas in the higher elevations may receive now along with light downpours. From December 8 to 9, there may be chances of snow and moderate rains in this region. The weather is projected to be dry from December 10 to 14 and major showers are expected to occur during this period.
Weather Update of Delhi/NCR
The sky is expected to be clear with surface wind speed below 10 km per hour in the early morning. The presence of smog and mist will also be there in the evening and nighttime. Residents of Delhi have continued to experience relief from severe pollution for the last three days. The 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 268 at 4 PM reflecting moderate improvement on Monday. Meanwhile, the Decision Support System (DSS), the tool that is used for analyzing pollution sources in the national capital, has not been updated since Friday, as per ANI report. The DSS is still under development and still not fully operational, an official from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) stated.
