The India Meteorological Department has notified that cold wave conditions will continue to affect the entire Northwest India for the next seven days. It has also warned that a low-pressure area over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal is impacting weather conditions. As a result, heavy showers are likely to occur over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on December 20. The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for intense rains in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
Cold Wave Warning
As per the Met Department’s latest forecast, cold wave conditions are anticipated to present in Northwest India for the upcoming seven days. Himachal Pradesh will experience it from December 20 to December to December 25. West Rajasthan will be engulfed in the cold waves on December 20, 22, and December 23, and Punjab will feel it on December 20, 21, and December 22. Ladakh, Jammu- Kashmir, Baltistan, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Ladakh may get it from December 20 to December 25. Similarly, Chandigarh and Haryana will also be under its grip from December 20 to December 21.
Dense fog alert
Dense fog is likely to prevail during the night and early morning hours in Uttar Pradesh till December 21, Haryana and Chandigarh will have it on December 20, December 22, and December 24. Jharkhand and East Rajasthan will face it from December 20 to December 22. Moreover, Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim might experience it from December 21 to December 22.
Snowfall Prediction
According to the Weather Department, a fresh and active western disturbance is expected to affect the Western Himalayan region and nearby plains from December 27. The IMD has projected that there may be snowfall in higher altitudes of Himachal Pradesh from December 27 and December 28.
Heavy Rainfall Forecast for Southern India
Many places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, North Tamil, and Rayalaseema will receive heavy downpours on December 20. Similar weather patterns will be prevalent in coastal West Bengal and coastal Odisha on December 20 and December 21. Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland are likely to get it from December 20 to December 24. Meghalaya and Assam are expected to receive it from December 21 to 23.
