With the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, the Israel Embassy in India made it to social media and appreciated two Kerala women. These two women were appreciated for their efforts and determination who work as caregivers in Israel. They saved civilians from the attack that Hamas has launched on Israel.

The embassy through its official handle took to X, formerly Twitter, and called the two women from Kerala as “Indian superwomen”. A video was also shared in which one of them recalled the horror of the day as they held onto a door handle and prevented the Hamas operatives from reaching them.

Ms Sabhita works in a kibbutz named Nir Oz and Meera Mohanan works with her. Both of them are caretakers of an elderly lady, Rahel who suffers from ALS disease. In a video that was shared, Ms Sabhita can be seen saying,”I have been working along the border for three years. We are two caregivers working at home here, taking care of an old lady with ALS disease…It was my night duty and I was about to leave when around 6:30 we heard the sirens and ran to a safety room. It was non-stop.”

She also says that they received a call from Ms Rahel’s daughter who said that “things are out of our hands”. Ms Sabhita, in the video, recalls how they were clueless about what to do and were asked to lock the front and back doors. They also had to remove their slippers to have more grip on the floor.

They heard a few minutes later that the terrorists broke into the house shooting and breaking glasses. They contact the daughter who asked them to hold onto the door and not leave it. They held onto the door for four and a half hours.

The terrorists were inside the house from almost 7:30 and were trying to open the door from outside. The two caretakers did their best in holding the door as they hit the door and shot at it.

She added that they were unaware what was happening outside and that “everything” was destroyed. Around 1 pm after a few hours of the attack they heard shots again.

The father of the house, Schmulik, informed them that the Israeli Army had arrived to save them. Schmulik went out of the house only to see how everything was destroyed. They were looted completely and left with nothing. Sabhita’s passport was also taken away.

She said that a terrorist attack was never expected but she knew that missiles would be falling and in such cases they would go to the safety rooms and come back after it was over. However, that particular day they had no time to do anything. A picture of the door and wall with bullet markings was also shared by them.

Israel Embassy in India share the post on X, formerly Twitter and wrote,“Indian superwomen! Listen to this story of Ms Sabitha, a caregiver from Kerala, as she shares how she and Meera Mohanan saved the Israeli civilians they were taking care of by holding the door handle & preventing the Hamas Terrorists from bursting in & killing them”.

In the latest development in the war, an explosion at a hospital in Gaza has killed more than 500 people on Tuesday. Reuters quoted the Hamas-run health ministry sources which sparked outrage. While local authorities blamed Israeli airstrikes, Israel alleged it was Hamas rockets misfiring.
