Highlighting the “misuse” of Waqf properties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took a dig at the Congress party, accusing them of spreading “votebank virus”. The PM said that Waqf had lakhs of hectares of land under its name and all of this should have benefitted the poor, but instead the “land mafia benefitted from these lands”.

Prime Minister Modi said the updated Waqf law will help stop the exploitation of the poor. He explained that under the new law, the Waqf Board will no longer have control over land or property owned by Adivasis.

The PM also said that “poor and Pasmanda Muslims” will now receive the rights they deserve, calling this true social justice.

PM Modi was speaking in Hisar on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. Taking a dig at the Opposition, Modi said that Congress had become a “destroyer of constitutions”.

He further added that while Ambedkar wanted to bring equality, Congress has spread the “virus of vote bank politics”.

The PM went on to claim that Congress had tried to erase Babasaheb’s memory and that they put him through humiliation when he was alive. He further added that historically Congress also made him lose the elections twice.
