Janata Dal (Secular) leader and Karnataka MLA HD Revanna on Monday broke silence on the sex scandal controversy involving his son and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and said that the ‘obscene videos’ are “4-5 years old and I know what kind of conspiracy is going on”.
Multiple purported sex videos of Prajwal Revanna emerged last week, just two days before the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka on April 26, leading to a massive controversy. On Sunday, a case was filed against Prajwal and his father by their household help for sexually harassing her.
Prajwal Revanna, who is the grandson of JDS chief and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has however denied the allegations. He filed a complaint saying that the circulated videos have been manipulated.
“I know what kind of conspiracy is going on. I am not someone who will get scared and run away. They have released something that was 4-5 years old,” HD Revanna, Prajwal’s father who has also been booked in the case, told ANI.
After the videos led to a massive row, the Karnataka government announced a probe by a Special Investigation Team, and an FIR was registered. Following this, Prajwal, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, reportedly fled the country to Frankfurt, Germany.
However, HD Revanna said, “Prajwal was anyway going to go abroad,” and “He didn’t know an FIR was going to be filed against him”.
On JD(S) MLA demanding his son’s expulsion from the party, HD Revanna said, “Expelling him from the party is left to the party high command”.
“Let the state government investigate. For the last 40 years under Congress, we have faced several investigations, be it CID or SIT,” HD Revanna added.
Meanwhile, JDS leader and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that “it’s an issue of the Revanna family” and said, “we have nothing to do with it”.
Although, he questioned the timing of the release and said if anyone is found to be involved in any wrongdoing, the person will have to be punished “as per the land of the law”.
The 33-year-old Prajwal was the NDA candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, which went to polls on April 26. The JDS joined the BJP-led NDA in September last year.
