Senior Jharkhand BJP leader and former Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Rai today on Wednesday released a VCD to the media which allegedly shows a money transaction taking place some time in 2008 between an official of a Madhu Koda front company and the son of the then chairman of the Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB).
The 3-minute 15-second video shows currency notes being received in a car by Gaurav Verma, son of the then JSEB chairman V N Verma allegedly from one Rohitas Krishnan, said to be one of the directors of a March 2008 registered company called Quantum Powertech.
In terms of proximity to former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, who is allegedly involved in a Rs 3,000 crore scam, Krishnan?s name figures next to that of Vinod Sinha.
Krishnan, against whom there is an Enforcement Directorate (ED) warrant, and is absconding, is said to have been the person who carried out Koda?s financial transactions involving banks, politicians, bureaucrats and the hawala route.
Asked if the VCD could become a part of the investigations in the Madhu Koda scam, Rai said, ?It is bound to be.? He is handing over a copy of the VCD to the ED, the chairman of the central vigilance commission, the state vigilance department and income tax authorities.
According to the senior BJP leader, Krishnan?s father, who retired from the Rural Engineering Organisation (REO), has long been a resident of Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district, which is how both Madhu Koda and Vinod Sinha have known the Krishnans for the last 20 years.
Rai has listed companies showing amounts with which Quantum Powertech had directly and indirectly within a span of one year transacted business worth more than Rs 250 crore with several companies — all transactions having taken place at the behest of Vinod Sinha, which he is already said to have admitted before Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials.
Also, all the companies involved in the monetary transactions are said to have links with people like Vinod Sinha, Manoj Punmia, Hemant Sarvate, Anil Vastvade, Lalit Jain and Sanjay Choudhury, all transactions again allegedly having taken place at Sinha?s direction.
Quantum is alleged to have ?managed? to bag all major JSEB contracts in 2008-09 and is said to have executed all the contracts itself, either on partnership or on commission basis.
Rai has also demanded that the state government come out with a white paper on JSEB?s dealings during 2007, 2008 and 2009.
