Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has directed the opening of dedicated medicine counters for journalists at all government hospitals across the state. This move aims to alleviate the difficulties faced by journalists due to long queues at general counters, an official statement said.

The directive was issued following a meeting between Pathak, who also oversees the state’s Health Department, and a delegation from the Uttar Pradesh Accredited Correspondents Committee. The committee, led by its president Hemant Tiwari, highlighted the discontinuation of separate counters for journalists, a facility that was previously available in government hospitals.

Tiwari expressed concern that long queues at general medicine counters were making it challenging for journalists to procure necessary medicines. In response, Pathak instructed the principal secretary to implement the reopening of these exclusive counters.

This decision comes as part of the government’s effort to address the needs of the state’s media community while ensuring improved access to healthcare for all.
