A 65-year-old man in Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur died days after being brutally thrashed by his son, who was reportedly disgruntled over dividing the family property.
The man, Kulandhaivelu, died on April 18 of a heart attack, days after he was assaulted by his son Santhosh. The assault took place in Krishnapuram in Perambalur district on February 16, India Today reported.

CCTV footage that emerged during the investigation showed Santhosh repeatedly punching his father’s face and kicking him, leaving him bloodied and collapsed.

Seeing the assault, other family members intervened and stopped Santhosh. A visibly angry Santhosh can be seen trying to continue the attack.
Initially, after the assault, Kulandhaivelu had lodged a complaint against Santhosh, which he withdrew later.
Kulandhaivelu passed away on April 18, following which his family then filed a complaint against Santhosh once again.

A case under Sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (Voluntarily hurting with a dangerous weapon), and 506(ii) (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code have been filed by police, following which Santhosh was arrested.
