CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury remains in a critical condition and continues to receive respiratory support at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. There have been no significant updates on his condition. The 72-year-old leader was admitted to the AIIMs ICU on August 19 for an acute respiratory tract infection. Despite intensive care and monitoring by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, his health status continues to be critical.
No new updates have been provided by the hospital or the CPI(M) party since the previous statement. The situation remains closely monitored, with the medical team working diligently to support Yechury’s recovery.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Communist Party of India (Marxist) said, “Comrade Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist), is in the intensive care unit of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, being treated for an acute respiratory tract infection.”
In the meantime, expressions of concern and well-wishes have continued to pour in from political leaders and the public alike. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has publicly wished for Yechury’s speedy recovery, highlighting the widespread support and concern for the veteran leader. Yechury had on August 22 shared a 6-minute video on platform X (formerly Twitter), in which he addressed the passing of Buddhadev Bhattacharya, the former Chief Minister of West Bengal.
