Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday (January 21) in the afternoon. The doctors will conduct a final examination before deciding on the duration of rest required for his complete recovery.

Crime Scene Recreated by Mumbai Police

On Tuesday, Mumbai police recreated the crime scene at Khan’s residence in upscale Bandra to further investigate the knife attack. A team of 20 officials arrived at the Satguru Sharan building in four police vans at around 5.30 am and spent an hour examining the premises.

The accused, Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, was taken to various locations connected to the case, including Bandra railway station, from where he had taken a train to Dadar, and a spot outside a garden where he had slept after the attack.

Arrest and Investigation Details

Khan (54) was repeatedly stabbed by the intruder inside his 12-floor apartment on January 16, resulting in the need for surgery. The police arrested Fakir, a Bangladeshi national, from neighbouring Thane city on Sunday. Fakir had been residing illegally in India under the alias Vijay Das.

After recreating the crime scene and visiting locations frequented by the accused, Fakir was brought back to Bandra police station for further interrogation. The metropolitan magistrate’s court in Bandra has remanded him to five-day police custody for further questioning.

Forensic Findings and Evidence Collection

As part of the probe, multiple fingerprints of the accused were collected from various locations, including the bathroom window he used to enter and exit the apartment, the duct shaft, and the ladder he used to gain access. The forensic team also visited Khan’s residence to gather additional evidence.

Fakir, a native of Jhalokathi district in Bangladesh, had been living in Mumbai for over five months, working various odd jobs and associating with a housekeeping agency. His illegal stay in India under a false identity has raised concerns over security and the verification processes in place.

The accused has been remanded in five-day police custody, with authorities continuing their probe into the attack. Investigators are focusing on Fakir’s motives, connections, and potential accomplices in the crime.

Authorities are expected to release further details after Khan’s discharge and the conclusion of Fakir’s police custody period.
