A city court on Monday framed charges against Sanjay Roy, the prime accused in the murder case of a woman medic whose body was discovered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital 87 days ago.
Roy, who denies the charges, claimed he was being falsely implicated.
The court announced that a day-to-day trial will commence on November 11. Roy has been charged under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 66, for causing death or placing someone in a persistent vegetative state, and Section 103, for murder.
“”I have done nothing. I have been framed in this rape-murder case. Nobody is listening to me. The government is framing me and threatening me not to open my mouth,” Roy told reporters while being escorted from the courtroom.

In a charge sheet submitted last month, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) identified Roy as the “sole prime accused” and acknowledged the potential for a “bigger conspiracy” behind the crime.
The incident, in which the medic’s body was found in the hospital’s seminar hall on August 9, sparked widespread protests among junior doctors across West Bengal, who staged a “cease-work” demonstration demanding justice for the victim.
