Security at its peak in New Delhi

A six-layered security protocol has been set up for New Delhi, with 15,000 security personnel dedicated to the area. Measures include the installation of over 2,500 CCTV cameras equipped with facial recognition and video analytics to monitor potential threats. Anti-drone systems are also in place to cover a four-kilometer radius, ensuring aerial threats are detected and neutralized. Additionally, snipers have been stationed on rooftops, and over 200 buildings along the parade route have been sealed, with residential windows facing the route also secured.

Traffic and Access Restrictions

From Saturday, traffic restrictions have been implemented, particularly in central Delhi. Key areas around the parade route, such as Kartavya Path, have been divided into zones, each overseen by senior officers like DCPs or additional DCPs to maintain security.

Specific roads will be closed for traffic, including Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate starting from 6 pm on Saturday, with restrictions lasting until the parade concludes. Similarly, there will be no cross-traffic on major routes like Rafi Marg and Janpath from 10 pm on Saturday until the end of the parade. The C-Hexagon-India Gate area will also be closed to traffic from 9:15 am on Sunday until the parade passes.

Special Security Teams and Resources

To ensure safety, commandos, quick reaction teams, PCR vans, anti-sabotage checks, and SWAT teams will be stationed at key locations around the city. Special booths for missing persons, helpdesks, first-aid kiosks, and vehicle key deposit counters have been set up along the parade route for the convenience of visitors.

Traffic Police and Metro Services

The parade will begin at Vijay Chowk and proceed towards the Red Fort, passing through several major locations, including Kartavya Path and India Gate. In addition to road closures, restrictions have been placed on the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms such as drones, paragliders, and hot-air balloons over Delhi until February 1. Heavy transport and light goods vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from other states until the parade is completed. For commuters, metro services will remain unaffected, with trains operating normally at all stations.
