Republic Day 2024 Latest News: India will celebrate its 75th Republic Day on Friday (January 26). French President Emmanuel Macron will be the Chief Guest of this year’s parade on Kartavya Path. According to the officials, Macron is expected to arrive at Jaipur Airport tomorrow. Republic Day marks the day in the history of independent India when the Constitution was adopted. The then Constituent Assembly created the Indian Constitution on November 26, 1949, which was subsequently adopted on January 26, 1950. As part of the stringent security measures, until February 15, the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms, including paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned aircraft systems, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters, or parachute jumping from aircraft is strictly prohibited over the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

But before you plan to hoist the national flag, you must be aware about the stringent ‘Flag Code.’ The Ministry of Home Affairs had recently written to all states regarding the compliance of the ‘Flag Code’.
What’s India’s Flag Code? Read key details
It was after a long legal battle by then Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal that led to changes in the Flag Code and gave the right to every citizen to hoist national flag at her/his home. The Union government ordered the amendment in the ‘The Flag Code of India’ in 2002.
In an additional change, the order on December 30, 2021 led to another amendment in the Flag Code. Now, the National Flags made by machine or polyester cloth were also allowed.
Here are other key features of the Flag Code as per the MHA order:
A member of public, a private organisation or an educational institution may hoist/display the National Flag on all days and occasions, ceremonial or otherwise, consistent with the dignity and honour of the National Flag.
The Flag Code of India, 2002 was amended vide Order dated 20th July, 2022 and clause (xi) of paragraph 2.2 of Part-II of the Flag Code of India was replaced by the following clause:- (xi) “where the Flag is displayed in open or displayed on the house of a member of public, it may be flown day and night;”
The National Flag shall be rectangular in shape. The Flag can be of any size but the ratio of the length to the height (width) of the Flag shall be 3:2.
Whenever the National Flag is displayed, it should occupy the position of honour and should be distinctly placed.
A damaged or dishevelled Flag shall not be displayed.
The Flag should not be flown from a single masthead simultaneously with any other flag or flags.
The Flag should not be flown on any vehicle except of the dignitaries mentioned in Section IX of Part III of the Flag Code, such as President, Vice-President, Prime-Minister, Governors etc.
No other flag or bunting should be placed higher than or above or side by side with the National Flag.
