The Kerala Police conducted a raid on a rave party at a five-star hotel in Kochi and arrested seven people, including a Russian national with contraband substances.
The arrests were made on Saturday night when the police team raided the party acting on a tip-off.
A Russian national, Vasily Markelov (37) alias ‘Psykovsky’, was found with a packaged powder, which was tested positive for the presence of narcotics.
Police officer, A. B. Vibin, said the accused would be produced before court this evening in Kochi.
“We found seven persons possessing narcotic substances and we have arrested seven persons and one among them is a Russian citizen. We found a mixture of herbs from him. It is a powder, and after primary test we have conducted there, we have traced a specimen of hashish or purified ganja in that mixture. So, that person is also arrested. We have registered a crime against him. Today evening we are going to produce (him) before the honourable court,” said Vibin.
The police team reached the hotel in the evening and examined nearly 300 people, who attended the party. The raid continued till late in the night.
