The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted a site inspection of the Rameshwaram Cafe blast incident with two arrested suspects, police sources told PTI.
The NIA has been actively investigating the case, which took place on March 1, having conducted searches at over 29 locations nationwide. A police source said that the NIA team arrived at the cafe for the inspection with the two accused. The area was secured with heavy police presence and barricades.
“A team of NIA probing the Rameshwaram Cafe blast came here this morning at the Cafe for spot inspection along with two of the accused as part of their internal investigation into the case,” an official source said.
The NIA took over the investigation on March 3 and arrested key suspects Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa, the alleged mastermind, and Mussavir Hussain Shazib, the attacker, on April 12 in Kolkata. They were hiding under assumed identities.
The NIA has also arrested co-accused Maaz Muneer Ahmed and Muzammil Shareef from Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. In total, five individuals have been apprehended in connection with the March 1 cafe blast, which injured 10 people.
