A collision between a truck and a vehicle resulted in the loss of 7 lives and left eight individuals injured in Rajasthan’s Dungarpur district near the Ratanpur border situated on the Delhi-Mumbai National Highway on Sunday.

Police said that all seven victims lost their lives at the scene of the collision, with their bodies scattered along the roadway. Additionally, three severely injured individuals were sent to a hospital in Dungarpur for medical treatment.

The police investigation revealed that the accident occurred when the truck, due to brake failure, collided with a Force Trax Cruiser, a vehicle capable of accommodating up to 13 passengers. The force of the impact caused the MUV to overturn.

The authorities disclosed that a total of 21 individuals were travelling in the vehicle, which was en route from Dungarpur to Ahmedabad. One of the vehicle’s occupants claimed that some passengers were even sitting on the vehicle’s roof at the time of the accident.

The driver of the MUV also died in the accident. According to information provided by one of the vehicle’s occupants, four of the deceased victims have been identified as Dhanpal (24), Hemant (21), Rakesh (25), and Mukesh (25). An additional victim, a young girl approximately 14 years of age, remains unidentified, alongside two other bodies, as said by the police.

Senior police and administrative officials, including District Collector Laxmi Narayan Mantri and Superintendent of Police Kundan Kanwaria, arrived at the scene to investigate the case further.
