During his Gujarat visit, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi emphasised the need to identify and remove party workers who are allegedly aligned with the BJP. Addressing Congress workers in Ahmedabad, Gandhi said that the people of Gujarat would not vote for Congress unless the party fulfils its responsibilities.
He claimed that Gujarat, under three decades of BJP rule, was struggling for a new vision, but the Congress had failed to provide one. “There are two types of people in Gujarat Congress—those who genuinely fight for the people and uphold the party’s ideology, and those who are disconnected, show no respect, and many of whom are with the BJP,” he said. Gandhi stressed that unless such individuals were filtered out, the party would struggle to regain trust in the state.
BJP Responds: Rahul Gandhi needs self-introspection
Reacting to Gandhi’s remarks, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi dismissed his statements as a reflection of Congress’s internal crisis. He criticised Gandhi for constantly blaming others—including his own party members, constitutional institutions, and the media—rather than reflecting on his leadership.
Trivedi accused Gandhi of being “in cahoots with suspicious organizations” and questioned why the Gandhi family never visited the Statue of Unity, which was built in honour of Sardar Patel. He further claimed that Congress’s influence in Gujarat had significantly weakened under the leadership of Rahul and Sonia Gandhi.
Trivedi also challenged Gandhi to disclose whom he met during his foreign visits, implying that his leadership decisions were influenced by external factors.
