Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta carried out a traditional havan at the newly built BJP Delhi headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg on Monday. The ritual was performed to mark an auspicious beginning before the formal inauguration of the office by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to the reporters Gupta congratulated all the BJP workers and said, “I congratulate all the party workers. It is a historic moment to see the world’s biggest party’s headquarter built in the Capital. This will also motivate the thousands of party workers. It will be inaugurated by PM Modi. I consider myself very fortunate, as I am also a party worker of the BJP.”
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva made the announcement at a press conference, calling the new office more than just a workplace. “This building is a centre of values where the spirit and culture of the party will be nurtured among our workers,” he said, describing the inauguration as a historic milestone in the party’s journey in Delhi.

Dignitaries to attend BJP’s new office
The inauguration will see the presence of BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, senior leaders, MPs, MLAs, councillors, union ministers, and thousands of party workers, according to PTI.
For the past 35 years, the Delhi BJP operated from its Pant Marg office. Speaking at the press meet, Sachdeva recalled that the groundbreaking ceremony for the new office was performed by JP Nadda on June 9, 2023.
“After the party’s establishment, the first office was opened at Ajmeri Gate, later shifted for some time to Rakabganj Road, and for almost 35 years functioned from 14 Pandit Pant Marg,” he said, according to PTI. “Now, the party has reached its own building on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg. This journey has been full of challenges but also remarkable.”
Sachdeva added that moving to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg is a big achievement after years of challenges, and also shared the BJP’s plan to have a party office in every state capital and district. “As part of this mission, not only were long-pending land disputes regarding the Delhi state office resolved, but construction was completed. Today, all 14 organisational districts of Delhi have their own offices.”

In 1951, Jana Sangh was formed, and Dr Mookerjee became the first informal Leader of the Opposition. In 1970 Jana Sangh opposed Indira Gandhi’s policies and merged with the Janata Party in 1977 after the Emergency ended. Formation of BJP (1980): Jana Sangh leaders formed BJP based on five principles; later rose nationally under Advani, Vajpayee, and Modi, becoming India’s largest party by 2014.
