Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday termed the opening of the Ram Mandir as a proclamation of ‘Ram Rajya’, signifying a society characterised by harmony and devoid of discrimination. “Now, gunshots will not echo in the streets of Ayodhya and curfews will not be imposed,” he said in a veiled reference to the happenings on December 6, 1992, when the police opened fire on karsevaks ahead of the Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya.
Addressing a gathering of approximately 8,000 attendees, including business tycoons, dignitaries, spiritual leaders, individuals associated with the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, and celebrities from the entertainment and sports, Adityanath described the occasion as emotionally charged, marking the end of a 500-year wait and comparing the nation’s devotion to Lord Ram to the mythical ‘Treta Yug’ from Hindu beliefs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the historic ceremony, witnessed by millions on television and in temples nationwide. “It is an emotional moment for all of us and it has come after a wait of 500 years. The whole nation has become ‘Ram maye’ (immersed in the devotion of Lord Ram). It seems that we have arrived in ‘Treta Yug’,” the chief minister said.
In the eyes of Hindu beliefs, the Ramayana unfolded during the ‘Treta Yug,’ one of Hinduism’s four ages.”This is the ‘rashtra mandir’. Undoubtedly, the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla idol is a historic occasion of national pride,” Adityanath said.

The chief minister highlighted the transformative impact of the Ram temple, envisioning Ayodhya as a place of ‘Deepotsav,’ ‘Ramotsav,’ and ‘Shri Ram Sankirtan,’ fostering a society based on the principles of Ram Rajya—characterised by harmony and equality.
Adityanath further noted the uniqueness of this instance globally, where the majority community patiently waited for nearly 500 years for the construction of a temple at the birthplace of their God within their own country.
“Every section of society, including saints, ascetics, Nihangs, intellectuals, politicians and tribals, rose above caste, ideology, philosophy and method of worship and sacrificed themselves for the cause of Ram. Today (my) soul is happy… that the temple has been built exactly where it was resolved to be built,” he said, as PTI reported.
“Ayodhya… was cursed, neglected for centuries and faced planned humiliation. But the life of Lord Ram taught us patience and restraint. Today, the whole world is admiring the glory of Ayodhya. Everyone is eager to come to Ayodhya. Today, the glory of ‘Treta Yug’ has descended on Ayodhya. This religious city is being established as the cultural capital of the world,” he added.
Adityanath credited the sculptor, Arun Yogiraj, for crafting the 51-inch idol of Ram Lalla and lauded the image’s embodiment in people’s hearts. Additionally, he extended gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for fulfilling the long-standing dream of constructing the Ram temple, citing the confidence that Indians had in 2014 when Modi assumed power.
