Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

The meeting comes days after he formed the government in the state with BJP’s support, less than 18 months after he left the ‘mahagathbandhan’ (alliance), comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress.

Nitish took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the ninth time on Sunday. Two BJP leaders – Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha – took oath as the deputy Chief Ministers of the state.

Earlier in the day, Nitish had said that “things were not well” in the Opposition bloc INDIA, which led him to the decision to leave the bloc ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

After he was sworn-in as the CM, PM Modi congratulated him and in a post on X, wrote, “NDA government formed in Bihar will not leave any stone unturned to fulfil people’s aspirations and work for the state’s development. I congratulate Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha for becoming Deputy CMs. I believe this team will work with commitment to serve our people.”
