A 40-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly running a prostitution racket from a spa she managed in a popular mall in the Vashi area of Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai, as reported by the police on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the woman under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 370 (trafficking of persons) and 506 (criminal intimidation), along with relevant provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, according to PTI.

Prithviraj Ghorpade, a senior police inspector in Navi Mumbai’s anti-human trafficking unit, mentioned that acting on a tip, the police sent an undercover decoy to the spa on Tuesday evening.

The police found two women, aged around 20 years, working and apparently being forced into the sex trade, PTI reported.

The woman suspected of pushing them into prostitution was then arrested. The two victims have been relocated to a rescue home.
