The Mumbai University on Monday postponed the Centre for Distance and Online Education exam which was originally scheduled for today (July 8) due to the heavy rainfall the city has been witnessing since last night. The exam will now be conducted on July 13.
The official notice said, “This is to inform you that due to the heavy rains, all the exams of CDOE (formerly IDOL) scheduled on 8th July 2024 in the first half, i.e., from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, have been postponed. The new date for these exams will be 13th July 2024. The time and venue will remain the same.”
A notice by BMC said that Mumbai has recorded over 300mm of rainfall at various places in six hours from 1 am to 7 am today. Low-lying areas were waterlogged due to heavy rains which also disrupted suburban train services.
As a result, schools and colleges throughout the city have been shut for the first and second sessions.
All BMC, government, and private schools and colleges in Mumbai (BMC area) are closed today due to an extreme rainfall alert. To avoid inconvenience to students, a holiday has been declared for the first session.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and the Konkan belt. Over 315 mm of rain was recorded in the past 24 hours, with the highest rainfall observed in Vikhroli at the Veer Savarkar Marg Municipal School and MCMCR Powai.
