Nine people sustained injuries in a stampede at Bandra railway station on Sunday morning amid a rush to board the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express, a civic official confirmed. The incident occurred at 5:56 a.m. on platform number one at the Bandra Terminus, as passengers hurried to secure their spots on train 22921 heading to Gorakhpur.

Injured Rushed to Hospital

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that all injured individuals were promptly transferred to Bhabha Hospital for medical care. The injured passengers include Shabhir Abdul Rehman (40), Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kangay (27), Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18), Mohammad Shareef Shaikh (25), Indrajith Sahani (19), and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18).

The stampede highlights the challenges posed by overcrowding during peak travel times at Mumbai’s railway stations, often resulting in critical incidents like these. Officials are currently investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the stampede, and additional crowd management measures may be considered to enhance safety at busy terminals.
