Mumbai Police have arrested three taxi drivers and booked two others after a physical fight ensued between the taxi drivers and staff at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The incident took place on May 31 but came into notice after a video of the brawl went viral on social media, resulting in swift action from the law enforcement.
According to officials from the Sahar Police Station, the confrontation started when airport staff directed cab drivers to leave the parking space after dropping off passengers. One of the drivers allegedly declined to obey the instruction and began abusing the personnel, which soon led to a physical fight, as per a report by PTI. In the viral video, both parties can be seen punching and kicking each other in the face-off.

To control the situation from further escalation, the Central Industrial Security Force, which is responsible for overseeing airport security, quickly interfered in the dispute. No serious injuries have been reported till now, but the viral video has raised concerns related to safety at one of the busiest airports.
Investigation underway on the brawl
After conducting the probe, police have identified a cab driver and a security staff member as the main culprits. As per the latest report, authorities have booked a total of five cab drivers under the sections of the Indian Penal Code for creating public disorder and restricting officials in performing their duties. Three of the accused have already been detained. Meanwhile, airport authorities have confirmed that they are reevaluating parking management rules and coordinating with the police to ward off such incidents in the future.
According to a report by Network 18, police officials have confirmed that a detailed investigation is going on to figure out the whole sequence of events to identify the person who is responsible for the rift. The viral video has been closely analysed and statements have also been recorded from the eyewitnesses who were present at the time of the incident.
