The Narendra Modi government will present ‘White Paper’ to ‘highlight’ the economic mismanagement during the UPA regime between 2004 and 2014 in the Lok Sabha today. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal confirmed the development. He said that the White Paper is part of the Interim Budget that was presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1. He said that it was necessary to tell the country about the state of economy when the UPA was in power. He said that the White Paper will also be tabled in the Rajya Sabha as well.

Meanwhile, ahead of the White Paper release by the Modi government, the Congress issued the ‘Black Paper’ slamming the Centre’s economic policies. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge released the ‘Black Paper’. “The main issue is unemployment,” Kharge said.

According to Stanford Law School, a ‘white paper’ is an informative document that outlines government policies, achievements, and concerns. Government papers are color-coded for distribution, with white being designated for public access.

Typically, governments release white papers on specific subjects to address issues, propose actions, or reach conclusions.

In her address, Finance Minister Sitharaman stated that it is a fitting moment to reflect on the state of the country until 2014 and learn from the “mismanagement” during those years.
