Finnish handset major Nokia on Saturday said it expects the $7.2-billion deal with Microsoft to complete by the end of this month, Nokia’s vice-president for chief ethics and compliance officer Chad Fentress and Microsoft’s chief privacy officer Brendon Lynch said on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Nokia India workers? union said that it would go on an hunger strike on Monday without affecting production and would not hesitate from seeking the chief minister?s intervention.

As per M Saravanakumar, president of the workers’ union, ?All the indications show that the Chennai plant will not become part of the global merger with Microsoft as time is running out. Sensing this, the union asked the management to come out clean but despite repeated attempts, it has been deliberately avoiding us.?
