Merchant Navy officer killed by wife: The parents of Meerut woman Muskan Rastogi, who killed her husband Saurabh Rajput with the help of her lover Sahil Shukla, have demanded the death penalty for both Muskan and Sahil which they say should be broadcast live. They also expressed shock and anguish over the crime, calling their daughter unfit for society.
“My daughter (Muskan) killed my son-in-law (Saurabh) with the help of her friend. She is not fit for society, and she is dangerous to everyone. I would advise others not to take such steps. She should be hanged till death, and if possible, it should be live,” Muskan’s father told news agency ANI.
Her mother added, “I agree with what my husband has said. Saurabh was a good man. I am not saying it for the sake of it, I mean it. My son is in shock after hearing the news….”
“We demand justice, and we want that she (Muskan) should be hanged till death,” Muskan’s mother, who broke down in tears, added.
Meerut Murder: Mother of deceased Saurabh Rajput speaks out
“They (Muskan and Sahil) murdered my son, locked his body in the room and after that, she went for a trip. The owner of the house had asked them (Saurabh and Muskan) to vacate the room…,” Saurabh’s mother told ANI.
She added, “They (Muskan and Sahil) were trying to shift the body in a drum which was filled with cement. When the labourer could not lift it and asked her what was inside; she told him that she stuffed it with house junk.”
When the labourers were carrying the drum, its lid suddenly opened, and the labourers smelled the body from inside. They then informed the police.
“By the time police came, she had already gone to her mother’s house to tell them. Her mother knew everything prior, but to mislead things, she (Muskan’s mother) said that she (Muskan) reached them to tell them that she had killed him (Saurabh). Her (Muskan) mother met some lawyer and reached court. Later, the police came and took the family (of Muskan) with them. They all (the family of Muskan) will be hanged to death along with that boy (Sahil). She (the daughter of Saurabh and Muskan) might be aware of this, as the neighbours told us that she (the daughter of Saurabh and Muskan) said that ‘papa has been kept in drum’….”
‘Must be doing drugs’
“He must be doing drugs, I don’t know much… The girl used to come here. He never went there,” Sahil’s grandmother told India Today.
Merchant Navy officer killed by wife: What has happened?
Muskan and Saurabh married in 2016 despite opposition from Saurabh’s parents. After the wedding, he quit his Merchant Navy job to spend more time with her. However, this decision caused friction within his family, leading the couple to move into a rented apartment. Three years later, they welcomed a daughter.
Their relationship took a downward turn when Saurabh discovered Muskan’s affair with Sahil. The couple even discussed divorce, but Saurabh ultimately decided to give their marriage another chance and rejoined the Merchant Navy. In 2023, he left India for work.
On February 24, Saurabh returned home to celebrate their daughter’s sixth birthday on February 28. However, Muskan had other plans. She drugged him and, with Sahil’s help, murdered him. They then dismembered his body into 15 pieces, stuffed them into a drum, and sealed it with cement.
Meerut Murder: Muskan and Sahil went on a holiday
After committing the gruesome murder, Muskan and Sahil went on a trip to Manali. While there, she used Saurabh’s phone to post photos on his social media accounts, creating the illusion that everything was normal.
To avoid raising suspicion, Muskan also kept in touch with Saurabh’s family through WhatsApp messages. However, when he failed to answer their calls for several days, his family grew concerned and eventually filed a police complaint.
She even told everyone in the area that Saurabh had gone on a trip.
Meerut Murder: The WhatsApp conversation
Saurabh’s sister had messaged him to wish him a happy Holi, but she received no response. Two days later, when she asked when he would be coming home, she received a reply saying he would let her know. When she informed him that she would be leaving the next day, the response stated that he was attending parties and couldn’t commit to a return date. She then told him to enjoy himself, according to a report by NDTV.
Unbeknownst to his family, these messages were not sent by Saurabh but by his wife, Muskan. At the time of this conversation, Saurabh had already been murdered.
Meerut Murder: How did Muskan convince Sahil to kill her husband?
Muskan went to extreme lengths to manipulate Sahil into killing her husband. She first created a Snapchat account, posing as his deceased mother and convincing him that she had reincarnated to communicate with him. Through a series of messages, she gained control over him and eventually instructed him to murder Saurabh.
She devised the plan in November 2024 and executed it in March this year, ultimately killing the Merchant Navy officer.
‘Bought two knives, got sleeping pills’
Before carrying out the murder, Muskan meticulously planned every detail. She first scouted locations where she could dispose of Saurabh’s body, even asking friends about places to bury puja materials. At one point, she directly inquired about burying a body.
She then purchased two knives under the pretext of cutting chicken. She even visited a doctor for anxiety, obtained a prescription, and later altered it by adding the names of two sedatives she used to drug Saurabh.
Muskan mixed the drugs into Saurabh’s alcohol a day after he returned to India, but he didn’t drink it. Undeterred, she and Sahil waited for another opportunity to drug him. When they finally got their chance, they carried out the murder.
“Yesterday, Brahampuri Police Station received information about a murder in the Indira Nagar area. Upon receiving the information, the police immediately reached the spot and began investigating. It was found that Saurabh, who had returned from London a few days ago, had been missing since March 4. His family had filed a missing complaint. During the investigation, his wife, Muskan, was called for questioning. During interrogation, Muskan revealed that she, along with her boyfriend Sahil Shukla, had murdered her husband, Saurabh,” Meerut SP Ayush Vikram Singh told media.
