Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday resigned from the post of Haryana Chief Minister on Tuesday after he met with Governor Bandaru Dattatreya.
Along with Khattar, his entire Cabinet tendered its resignation to the Governor. The resignation comes amid reports of the BJP-JJP alliance fallout in the state over seat-sharing for the Lok Sabha election.

The BJP asserted its majority in Haryana, claiming support from 41 MLAs, along with backing from independents, including influential leader Gopal Kanda. This puts the BJP comfortably beyond the halfway mark of 45 in the state assembly, the party claimed.
Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) of Dushyant Chautala have said they will contest the forthcoming poll on their own. Seat-sharing talks between the JJP and the BJP hit a roadblock over the former’s demand for 2 of the 10 constituencies for the Lok Sabha elections in Haryana. The BJP and JJP allied in a post-poll arrangement in the state after the saffron party fell short of a majority, winning 40 of the 90 assembly seats in the 2019 polls.
In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP swept the state, winning all 10 seats. Chautala’s party lost all seven of its contests but finished with a creditable vote share of 4.9 per cent.
