Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted the importance of libraries in fostering creativity and a love for books among children, praising various initiatives across India during his 116th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’. He stressed the role of libraries as hubs for learning, emphasizing that they are crucial in instilling the habit of reading.
Speaking about the ‘Prakrith Arivagam’ library in Chennai, PM Modi commended its efforts to make learning more engaging. “This library has become a center of creativity, offering more than 3,000 books and activities like storytelling, art workshops, memory training, and public speaking sessions,” he said. The library, initiated by technology expert Shriram Gopalan, aims to nurture creativity and learning among children.
The Prime Minister also praised the ‘Food for Thought Foundation’ in Hyderabad for creating impactful libraries that provide authentic information to children. He mentioned the ‘Prayog Library’ in Bihar’s Golapganj, which serves over 12 villages and helps students prepare for competitive exams.
PM Modi encouraged people to deepen their relationship with books, urging them to experience the transformative power of reading. “Increase your friendship with books, and see how your life changes,” he said.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai were also seen listening to the broadcast, underlining the widespread support for the initiative.
