This incident came hours after two Manipur Police commandos were killed, and two others sustained bullet wounds when heavily armed militants targeted them in Moreh, a business town situated near the Myanmar border.
The police clarified that the mob initially targeted the complex of the 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion in Thoubal’s Khangabok area.

“Further, the mob attempted to breach Thoubal police headquarters, prompting the security forces to use the force. Armed men from among the mob opened fire. As a result, three personnel from BSF sustained bullet injuries,” the police statement said.
The three injured personnel, identified as Constable Gourav Kumar, ASI Sobram Singh, and ASI Ramji, have been transferred to a private hospital. In response, the district administration has imposed a curfew in Thoubal.
However, the curfew does not apply to anyone who is involved in providing vital services, such as those who work in the media, medical fields, courts, or airport transportation.
Earlier on Wednesday, after the police personnel were killed in Moreh, T Ranjit Singh, the state Home Department Commissioner, wrote to the Home Ministry, urgently requesting the deployment of “air assets” or helicopters in Imphal for a minimum period of seven days, citing “emergency requirements.”
“The law and order situation at the border town of Moreh has become a matter of serious concern as there have been continuous exchanges of fire taking place. In view of the prevalent situation, the situation may deteriorate further in Moreh, medical emergencies may arise at any time. The police department has also informed that there is also need for airlifting of security personnel, ammunition, etc to Moreh,” wrote Singh, as quoted by The Indian Express.
