In the latest Legislative Council elections, the Mahayuti alliance achieved a decisive victory, securing 9 out of the 11 contested seats, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) managed to win 2 seats.

From the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shivajirao Garje and Rajesh Vitekar emerged victorious. Congress candidate Dr. Pragya Satav also won a seat. The Shinde faction of Shiv Sena celebrated the victories of Bhavna Gawli and Kripal Tumane. Meanwhile, the Thackeray faction saw Milind Narvekar secure a win. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates Parinay Fuke, Pankaja Munde, Yogesh Tilekar, Sadabhau Khot, and Amit Gorkhe were also successful.

A significant defeat was faced by Jayant Patil of the Peasants and Workers Party, who had the support of the NCP led by Sharad Pawar. His loss was attributed to the contest sparked by Milind Narvekar’s nomination. The MVA’s strategy to break into the Mahayuti and get all three of their candidates elected ultimately fell short.

BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis quickly celebrated the outcome, posting a brief yet triumphant message on X (formerly Twitter): “9/9,” accompanied by a thumbs-up emoji.
