Sharad Pawar, chief of the National Congress Party-SCP, called for an immediate resolution to the seat-sharing discussions within the Maha Vikas Aghadi ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, expected to be conducted later this year.

However, he indicated that he has not been participating in the ongoing talks regarding seat distribution within the alliance.

While addressing a press conference on Friday, Pawar stressed his absence from the discussions, saying, “I am not participating in the seat-sharing discussions, so it will not be right for me to say anything on that subject,” ANI reported.

He mentioned that Jayant Patil represents the NCP in these meetings, alongside Congress’s Nana Patole and Shiv Sena-UBT’s Sanjay Raut. He further said that three or four meetings have already taken place, with some topics reportedly agreed upon, while others will require further discussion

“They are going to sit together on the 7th, 8th and 9th. I request everyone on behalf of my party to sit together and discuss. The decision should reach us as quickly as possible. People want change in Maharashtra and this situation is favourable for us and we should respect this feeling of the people’s mind,” Pawar asserted.

Addressing concerns about internal conflicts during the Lok Sabha elections, Pawar denied any significant discord within the MVA, citing only a single instance in Sangli.

“There was no conflict or schism within the Maha Vikas Aghadi during the Lok Sabha elections. It happened only at one place, Sangli. It would be better if the people of Sangli spoke about it. Apart from this, no such incident happened in any district or taluka,” he said.

Regarding speculation about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar not contesting from Baramati, Sharad Pawar remarked, “If he feels that he made a mistake by fighting against the family in the Lok Sabha elections, then ask him if he will repeat it in the Assembly.”
