Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: Maharashtra recorded a voter turnout of 32.18 percent by 1 pm on Wednesday (November 20). However, Mumbai, the state’s most prominent city and India’s financial capital, is trailing behind the state average in voter participation.

Voting began at 7 am for the state assembly elections, where the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is aiming to retain power, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance hopes to make a strong comeback. Voting will continue until 6 pm. This year, Maharashtra has 1,00,186 polling booths, an increase from 96,654 booths in the 2019 elections.

Gadchiroli district saw the highest turnout at 50.89 percent, with Aheri at 52.84 percent and Armori at 51.05 percent. In Mumbai city, the turnout was 27.73 percent, while Mumbai suburban recorded 30.43 percent. Colaba saw 24.16 percent voting, Mahim 33.01 percent, and Worli 26.96 percent. Furthermore, Thane recorded 38.94 percent, Nagpur recorded 44.45 percent, Pune 41.40 per cent and Aurangabad recorded 47.05 percent.
Shivadi recorded 30.5 percent, and Malabar Hill saw 33.24 percent. In the suburban areas, Bhandup had 38.75 percent, Dahisar 35.60 percent, and Bandra East 25.03 percent.
