Maharashtra Elections 2024 Date: The elections to the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will take place on November 20 in a single phase, according to the election schedule announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday.

The elections will take place on November 20 and the counting of votes will be carried out on November 23. The election schedule was announced by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar.

The term of the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly is ending on November 26.

The majority needed to form the government is 145 seats in the assembly of 288 MLAs. The Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena alliance crossed the majority of 145 seats by winning a total of 161 seats. Individually BJP won 105 and SHS won 56 seats. The alliance formed the government but later split after a political crisis in the state.

This electoral cycle will see a two-way contest with the Mahayuti – an alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde’s faction of Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s faction of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) – taking on Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) – an alliance of Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s faction of Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s faction of the NCP.
