One person was reported dead while five others sustained injuries after a three-storey building collapsed in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna town around midnight on Tuesday. Following initial reports of several people were feared trapped inside the building, officals launched a joint rescue operation that lasted over four hours.
Shankhdhar Dwivedi, the in-charge of Kotwali police station, reported that Chhotelal Kushwaha, a labourer residing in the Satna district’s Singhpur village, died in the building collapse. His body was retrieved in the early hours of Wednesday.

Five people have been rescued, as City Superintendent of Police Mahendra Singh Chouhan informed, with all of them suffering injuries and currently receiving treatment in the hospital, as reported by PTI.
“The building collapsed while its renovation was underway. As per the preliminary information, two labourers were trapped inside the rubble, following which a joint rescue operation was launched by the fire department, local police and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force). The two have been rescued,” says Abhishek Gehlot, Commissioner Nagar Nigam, Satna.
Satna Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Gehlot stated that upon receiving information about trapped labourers, rescue operations were initiated by teams from the civic body, district administration, and the police.
