A court in Kasaragod on Saturday acquitted three RSS activists who were accused in the murder case of a Madrassa teacher inside a mosque in the district back in 2017, reports Live Law.
The Kasaragod Principal Sessions court judge, K K Balakrishnan, declared the acquittal of the three accused individuals – S Ajesh, Nidhin and Akhilesh. All of them are from Kasaragod. A magistrate court has remanded them in judicial custody. Police sources said that Riyas was murdered after a clash between youths belonging to different communities even as the madrasa teacher was not involved in it.
However, the detailed verdict of the case is yet to be released.
The victim, Mohammed Riyas Maulavi, 34, served as a muezzin and Madrassa teacher from the nearby Choori area. He was discovered murdered in his room within the mosque premises on March 20, 2017.
According to reports, his throat was allegedly slit by a gang that had entered the compound of the Muhayuddin Juma Masjid in Choori.
