A Magisterial court in Bengaluru on Wednesday remanded Karnataka JD(S) MLA and former minister H D Revanna, facing kidnapping charges, to judicial custody till May 14 on Wednesday.
On Sunday, Revanna was sent to four-day custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the sexual assault case against his son and incumbent MP from Haasan Prajwal Revanna. After the completion of his four-day custody, HD Revanna, son of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, was produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
Following the voting in Karnataka on April 26, Prajwal left the country and is still at large. He is reportedly in Germany and a Blue Corner notice has been issued against him.
A sexual assualt was registered against the father and son on April 28 in Haasan district. Later, a case of kidnapping was also filed on May 2 against HD Revanna at the KR Nagar police station by the 20-year-old son of a woman who was kidnapped by one Sathish Babanna allegedly at the behest of the MLA.
Several videos of sexual assaults by Prajwal Revanna has gone viral days before the polling on April 26.
The case has led to a political storm in the state between the ruling Congress and BJP-JDS. While the Congress has formed SIT to probe the cases, the BJP and JDS, who are NDA partners, have demanded that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
