The daughter of a Congress corporator was allegedly stabbed to death by an acquaintance inside the college campus in Hubbali, Karnataka, on Thursday.
Neha Hiremath, aged 21, daughter of Niranjan Hiremath, was a first-year MCA student at KLE Technological University, where she was fatally attacked.
The accused has been identified as Fayaz, an MCA dropout and has been arrested in connection with the incident, police said, adding that both of them were batchmates during their BCA course. The entire incident was captured on CCTV camera footage.
According to the police, Fayaz entered the college campus with a knife and stabbed Neha five-six times. During the attack, he too sustained injuries and was shifted to the hospital along with the victim. However, Neha was declared dead on arrival.
