A 22-year-old JNU student was killed and three others were injured after being hit by a motorcycle on the varsity campus in the early hours of Sunday, reports PTI.
The incident took place at around 2:30 AM when two students riding a KTM motorcycle rammed into two students who were walking towards Godavari Hostel.
Police have said that the deceased has been identified as Anshu Kumar who was a first year student of Bachelor of Arts in Russian language. Anshu was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Another victim Vishal Kumar aged 23 is in critical condition. Police said that he is not a student of JNU.
The two pedestrians who were hit by the bike have been identified as Sachin Sharma and Mrigank Yadav. While Mrigank is doing okay, the condition of Sachin is said to be serious.
Both Sharma and Yadav are pursuing Masters in Political Science from JNU. Police later rushed the injured students to AIIMS Trauma Centre.
A probe into the case is underway, and an FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The forensics team have reached the spot and begun investigation.
