Jharkhand could witness a change in government, with multiple exit polls predicting a victory for BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the recently concluded assembly elections. However, one poll suggested the ruling JMM-led alliance may retain power. Elections were held in two phases for all 81 assembly seats, with results set to be declared on November 23.

According to Today’s Chanakya exit poll, the BJP-led NDA is projected to secure 45-50 seats, while the JMM-led alliance may win 35-38 seats. Peoples Pulse exit poll provided a slightly broader range, giving the NDA 44-53 seats, the JMM alliance 25-37, and others 5-9.  

Matrize predicted 42-47 seats for the NDA, 25-30 for the JMM alliance, and 1-4 for others. In contrast, My Axis exit poll forecasted a comfortable majority for the JMM-led alliance, projecting 53 seats, with the NDA trailing at 25.  

The BJP-led NDA includes the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), while the JMM-led alliance comprises Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).  

Polling for the second phase concluded on Wednesday with a voter turnout of 67.59%, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). Jamtara recorded the highest turnout at 76.16%, followed by Pakur (75.88%) and Deoghar (72.46%). Bokaro saw the lowest turnout at 60.97%. Ranchi, the state capital, recorded a turnout of 72.01%.  

The first phase of polling on November 13 covered 43 constituencies, and the results for all 81 seats will be announced alongside those for Maharashtra Assembly elections and bypolls across various states.
