Infosys employee misconduct: Infosys has fired its Senior Associate Consultant, who was caught red-handed by a woman for secretly filming her in the office washroom. The 30-year-old, Swapnil Nagesh Mali, who has over 30 such videos on his phone, was arrested after the victim’s husband filed a complaint, which the Bengaluru police converted into an FIR.

The company has issued a statement asserting that it maintains a “zero-tolerance” policy towards such incidents and is committed to ensuring a “harassment-free work environment”. However, according to a report by Asianet News, the management initially attempted to handle the issue internally by asking Mali to apologise, rather than taking strict disciplinary action.

‘No longer with company’: Infosys

Infosys said that they have fired Mali and will cooperate with the authorities in the investigation.

“We are aware of the incident and have taken necessary action against the employee, who is no longer with the company,” the company said in a statement.

It added, “We also promptly supported the complainant by facilitating a swift complaint with law enforcement authorities and continue to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.”

The statement issued by IT giant further said, “Infosys is committed to providing a harassment-free work environment and follows a zero-tolerance policy. We take every complaint regarding violations of the company’s Code of Conduct very seriously.”

More than 30 videos found on his phone

According to the FIR filed at the Electronic City Police Station, the woman, who is a technical analyst at Infosys, reported to work at around 10 AM and went to the third-floor washroom an hour later. While using the washroom, she noticed a reflection and sensed movement from the next cubicle. Sensing something was off, she exited and re-entered the washroom only to find someone recording her from the adjacent stall.

When she stood on the commode to figure out who the person was, she was shocked to see Mali recording her with his pants down. She screamed and immediately rushed out of the washroom to alert her colleagues. She informed the HR too about it.

Mali reportedly tried to flee the scene but was stopped by HR.  When the HR checked his phone, they found more than 30 videos allegedly featuring different women. Upon being caught, he reportedly apologised and deleted the videos.

The victim usually works from home and goes to office under the new hybrid policy mandating 10 in-office days per month.

The case was registered under the Information Technology Act and Section 77 (Voyeurism) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, reported PTI.
