Amid growing cross-border tensions, the Indian Army on Saturday confirmed the interception and destruction of multiple armed drones launched from Pakistan.
The Indian Army via its X account said that the incident occurred around 5 AM on Saturday when several “enemy drones” were detected flying over the Khasa Cantonment area in Amritsar. The statement further added that the Indian air defence units responded immediately, successfully destroying the aerial threat.
“Pakistan’s blatant escalation with drone strikes and other munitions continues along our western borders,” the Indian Army said, calling the incident another attempt to breach Indian sovereignty and threaten civilian safety.
This latest drone interception is part of a broader pattern of provocations from Pakistan, as tensions remain high along the India-Pakistan border. Over the past week, Indian forces have been responding to increased ceasefire violations, drone incursions, and missile threats, many of which have been traced back to Pakistani military sources.
The Army in its statement has reiterated its stance that any attempt to violate India’s territorial integrity will be met with a strong and decisive response.
Authorities have placed key military zones and border areas on heightened alert as security forces continue to monitor the situation closely.
Meanwhile Pakistani Air Force jets on Saturday morning raided Srinagar. The Indian armed forces responded quickly and effectively to the attack. This incident followed a series of drone strikes that were launched by Pakistan in Indian border areas late Friday night and early Saturday.
India’s air defence systems intercepted the incoming drones, preventing any major damage. On Friday evening, loud explosions were reported in several locations, including near Srinagar airport, Samba, Jammu city, and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir.
Similar sounds were also heard in Pathankot and Ferozepur in Punjab, as well as Barmer in Rajasthan. Many of these border regions experienced power blackouts as a security measure.
