The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest bulletin has forecast heatwave alerts in East and South Peninsular India and it is likely to experience continued heat wave to severe heat wave conditions in the next five days. Meanwhile, there is a chance of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and stormy wind in North East India on the 27th, and April 28th, 2024.

According to recent observations by IMD, there will be light to moderate rainfall/snowfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning across various regions. Arunachal Pradesh will experience this weather pattern in many places, while Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim saw it at isolated places.

Heat Wave alerts in these states:

Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Sikkim, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal will continue to have extreme weather conditions. Isolated areas in Rayalaseema, North, and South Interior Karnataka also faced heat wave conditions. These conditions have been ongoing in Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal since last week.

A cyclonic circulation is lying over northeast Assam at lower tropospheric levels. This weather pattern is expected to cause fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Arunachal Pradesh. As per IMD, isolated to scattered rainfall is likely to occur over Nagaland, Tripura, Assam, Mizoram, and Meghalaya today and will continue to happen till April 28th.
