The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange alert for several parts of the country including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. On Monday, the monsoon was withdrawn from southwest Rajasthan, against its normal date of withdrawal from on September 17. The withdrawal of monsoon has marked the beginning of its retreat from the Indian subcontinent.

In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall has been recorded at Sonapur (18 cm) followed by Udainagar (West Madhya Pradesh) (15cm), Rajpipala (Gujarat) (15cm), Gudiyatham (Tamil Nadu)(12cm), and Nirmali (Bihar)(9cm).

The national capital is likely to experience partly cloudy skies today. The maximum and minimum temperature would be around 36 and 25 degree Celsius respectively. On Monday, the maximum and minimum temperature was 36.9 and 19.8 degrees Celsius respectively. The humidity level oscillated between 55 per cent and 93 per cent.
Jammu and Kashmir
Dry weather is likely to prevail in Jammu and Kashmir today. On Monday, the Kashmir valley received snowfall in the higher reaches and rains in the plains. The Met office has predicted wet weather on September 29th and 30th due to Western Disturbances.
West Bengal
Kolkata would experience partly cloudy skies with rain or thundershower. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33 degree and 27 degree Celsius respectively. In addition, thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur at one or two places over Sub Himalayan parts of the state.
Maharashtra
Mumbai, the state capital, is likely to experience generally cloudy skies with moderate rain or thunderstorms. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. It also predicted widespread rainfall over north Konkan, south Konkan, Goa, north Madhya Maharashtra, south Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. East and West Vidarbha is likely to witness scattered rainfall.
