The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red alert for Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. It also issued an Orange alert for multiple states such as Meghalaya, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Gujarat. In addition, a low pressure area is likely to form over north Andaman sea and adjoining East central Bay of Bengal by later this week and is expected to move west-northwestward with possibility of gradual intensification.

Rainfall ranking in last 24 hours:

In the past 24 hours, the top five rainfall stations are Basua (Bihar) – 29 cm followed by Gangarampur (Sub-Himalayan West Bengal) – 19 cm, Khirkiya (West Madhya Pradesh) – 16 cm and Chas (Madhya Maharashtra) – 16 cm.

A look at the weather conditions across few states:

Delhi

The Regional Met Office has predicted a partly cloudy sky in Delhi. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. On Saturday, the national capital registered maximum and minimum temperatures of 36.8 and 21.3 degrees Celsius respectively. 

West Bengal

Kolkata is likely to experience generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershower. The maximum and minimum temperature are likely to be around 31 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively. Several districts such as Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Coochbehar and Alipurduar are likely to witness rain or thundershoweres at most places. It also issued a warning of thunderstorms with lightning over two places in Malda, North and South Dinajpur districts. 

Maharashtra

Mumbai, the state capital, will experience a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain or thundershowers. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. The areas under north Konkan and south Konkan and Goa will experience widespread rainfall while fairly widespread rainfall will be observed in north Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, East and West Vidarbha regions. The scattered rainfall will be observed in south Madhya Maharashtra.
