Moreover, India’s development cooperation extends into health, education, and water management. India’s ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) programme has been an essential avenue for knowledge transfer, with over 800 Guyanese alumni, including President Irfaan Ali, having benefited from it.

In preparation for the summit, India held a Joint Commission Meeting with CARICOM countries, identifying a range of areas for deeper collaboration. 

Among the priorities discussed were ICT, education (especially in STEM fields), technology and innovation, renewable energy, and capacity building. India’s growing role as a key partner in the Global South is further underscored by CARICOM’s active participation in India’s initiatives, such as the Voice of the Global South Summits.
