The Income Tax Department is making special arrangements for tax payers to tackle the last moment rush for filing returns for the current financial year. Special arrangements are being made by the tax department by setting up additional counters from 28th July to 31st July to help taxpayers file their income tax returns, the Central Board of Direct Taxes said in a statement. Arrangements are also being made to receive returns on July 31 that is a Saturday.
In Delhi, special counters would be set up at Pragati Maidan which can receive about five lakh income tax returns that are expected to be filed in the last few days. Similar arrangements would also be made in other major tax collecting centres of the department, including Mumbai,Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. Taxpayers have also been advised to file their income tax returns early to avoid rush and preferably use the e-filing facility of the Income Tax Department to get faster and error-free services, the CBDT added.
