The Regional Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has issued a yellow alert and heatwave warnings across Rajasthan as temperatures soar above 44 degrees celsius in various districts, reported ANI.
According to the weather department, temperatures are expected to rise further in the next three days, particularly in the Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Bharatpur divisions. Temperatures in these areas may increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next two to three days. Some districts, including Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and Sriganganagar, have already surpassed the 44 degrees Celsius mark.
On May 7th, Barmer experienced the highest temperature recorded for the day at 44.6 degrees Celsius. Additionally, temperatures in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and Ganganagar have exceeded 44 degrees Celsius, while the Bikaner division is likely to see temperatures ranging between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius.
The impact of the heatwave is evident in people’s lives, with reduced traffic on roads during the afternoon compared to normal days, as individuals opt to stay indoors.
“We are carrying water bottles and covering ourselves with dupattas to escape from the heat,” Raqam, a resident, told ANI. He said that there is an intense heatwave that is making it harder to step out of the house.
As per the meteorological department, Rajasthan is expected to experience prevailing heat conditions for the next 3-4 days, with western Rajasthan anticipated to observe a more significant rise in temperatures.
Another resident named Rajiv said, “Rajasthan has always faced severe heat, and it’s better to carry water bottles, umbrellas, and eat watery and seasonal fruits, drink buttermilk, and juices to avoid heat.”
