AAP MP Raghav Chadha expressed optimism on Saturday regarding the ongoing seat-sharing discussions between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for the upcoming elections in Haryana. After meeting with AICC Haryana in-charge Deepak Babaria at the residence of Congress leader Uttam Kumar Reddy, Chadha said, “I hope it (the alliance or seat-sharing) will be finalised. Ummeed pe duniya kaayam hai (The world stands on hope).”

Deepak Babaria, following the meeting, added, “Congress has entrusted me with this responsibility, and this is my second or third meeting with Raghav Chadha in the last two days. We are discussing locations and numbers, and we expect results in two days. If it proves to be a win-win situation for both Congress and AAP, we will proceed with the coalition. It could even lead to changes in already announced candidates.”

Earlier, Sandeep Pathak, AAP MP and General Secretary (Organisation), stated that the party is ready to contest the elections and is awaiting the leadership’s final decision. “We’re fully prepared to contest every seat with full strength. Those who underestimate us will regret it in the future,” Pathak said in a press conference.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala criticised the potential alliance, calling it a union driven by desperation rather than a shared mission or vision. “INDI alliance has no clear goal. They form alliances when convenient, but these partnerships often dissolve later. In Punjab, AAP and Congress are rivals, but in Delhi, they’ve been together, and now there are uncertainties in Haryana,” Poonawala remarked.

The Haryana Assembly elections, which will elect representatives for the 90-member legislative assembly, are scheduled for October 5, with nominations closing on September 12. The vote count will take place on October 8.
